Japanese Right Angle Weave
Level: Advanced
Two-stranded weaving allows for dense stringing material possibilities, such as wire and fishing line. It is the ideal technique for dimensional weaving, as the tension that ensues from working with two strands instead of one holds a form where softer string like beading thread cannot.
Patterns for a two-strand right angle weave are mostly available only in Japanese. I can help you read these complicated “Spiro-graph”-looking diagrams, as well as offer my own designs (as in photos shown here). See Publications.
I take a logical approach to this challenging and rewarding weaving method. We cover the basics of making round and tube shapes and combining them, then embellishing them with details for endless miniature possibilities.
Materials are provided for a sample for you to take home.
